30. 1. 2014

This year the Republic of Slovenia will issue numismatic coins to honour the following two events: the 600th anniversary of the coronation of Barbara Cilli, and the 200th anniversary of the birth of photographer Janez Puhar. The Bank of Slovenia is also issuing a 2014 euro coin set. All numismatic coins will be sold from November 2014 exclusively at the locations of Deželna banka Slovenije, the authorised Bank of Slovenia sales agent.

In November 2014 we expect to offer for sale gold collector coins with the face value of EUR 100, silver collector coins with the face value of EUR 30, and €3 bimetallic collector coins with the face value of EUR 3. They are being issued by the Republic of Slovenia to honour the 200th anniversary of the birth of photographer Janez Puhar, the internationally acclaimed inventor of photography on glass. The 3€ bimetallic proof coin will be available in a special case – a capsule.

In November we further expect to offer for sale €2 commemorative coins with the face value of EUR 2, issued to honour the 600th anniversary of the coronation of Barbara Cilli. The €2 proof coin will be released in a special case – a capsule.

In addition, in 2014 the Bank of Slovenia is again issuing a euro coin set (BU and proof version). It will consist of all the euro coin denominations with a Slovenian national obverse, along with the €3 bimetallic collector coin issued in memory of the 200th anniversary of the birth of photographer Janez Puhar, and the €2 commemorative coin issued in memory of the 600th anniversary of the coronation of Barbara Cilli. The coin set is expected to go on sale in November 2014.

Sales prices and exact coin release dates will be announced subsequently.

All interested buyers will be able to obtain the numismatic coins issued in 2014 at the 25 branches of Deželna banka Slovenije (more information), the authorised reseller of numismatic coins appointed by the Bank of Slovenia.

All the issued numismatic coins will be put on sale, reduced only by advance orders placed in 2013. There will be no additional minting of the numismatic coins issued in 2014. Selected locations of Deželna banka Slovenije have also already started collecting advance orders for numismatic coins to be issued in 2015 (Emona – Ljubljana, and the 500-year mark of the first Slovenian printed text).
